Gene - Owner
I first wanted to be a garbage man, thinking they only worked the one day they came around. Oh well. I figure if I gotta work, it's gotta be with cool folks doing something I enjoy. I own an Orbea Onix, Redline Monocog Flight, and ride my boy Marley in a Burley Solo.
I sell bikes all day. Life ain't that bad.

George - George-of-all-Trades
Former Marine, father of two, lifer...I've ridden since I was 4 years old, and I wouldn't know who I was if I didn't. Bikes: Masi Special fixed, Redline Monocog 29er, Specialized langster London

Stephanie - Sales Associate
I ride everywhere I go. I do it because I'm happier while I'm going and happier when I get there. Sometimes I ride when I'm not even trying to get anywhere. My bikes are a late-eighties Raleigh Grand Prix, a 1962 Schwinn Superior, a 1975 Raleigh folding bike, a 1990 Fat Chance Yo Eddy, and a mystery 1960's cruiser with the world's biggest basket. I admit technology's come a long way in the past 50 years, but aesthetics haven't. The best thing I've ever done with a bicycle is teach someone else to ride it.

Scott - Sales Associate
My bikes are my car. They take me to work, to the grocery store, to shows, to coffee, to the park, to my friends - everywhere. On ten block trips, on fifty mile rides. In cutoff jeans, in bib shorts, in cutoff jeans over bib shorts. Whatever and everything. You can ride a bike any way you want, the most important thing is that you do! The bicycles that I love and ride: '95 Marinoni Special Touring (Montreal), '88 Panasonic Team America Custom (Japan), '88 Davidson Impulse (Seattle), '88 Bridgestone MB-3 do-it-all (Japan), Mikkelsen Kamikaze (Alameda).

Miguel - Sales Associate
I got my first road bike when I was 15 and have been riding ever since. I raced for Tieni Duro Junior Cycling Team for 3 years, and now race as a cat 3 on the road. I ride because it is my favorite thing to do and brings positive energy to all aspects of my life. I have a Scott CR1 road bike, Giant Trance x3 mountain bike, an IRO fixed gear, and a Globe Daily 1 for riding around town.

Daniel - Service Manager
There's something to be said for a perfectly tuned bicycle. Those moments when you and your bike are one is a good thing indeed. Whether you're silently flying underneath the trees with your friends or you've finally conquered that hill that always got the best of you, I want to be a part of that. I enjoy helping my clients, friends grow and develop their confidence and skills on the bike. After 15 years and counting as a mechanic in the industry, bicycles have continued to have a positive effect on my life.

Justin - Mechanic
A recent Texan transplant to California I must say I love the fact that I can get paid to do something I love. I've seen bicycles change people's lives, everything from helping to manage diabetes and M.S. to helping people come back from some pretty painful knee injuries. My Cannondale Crest team issue improves my day every time I get on it.

Jim - Berkeley Manager
Bicycles are the structure of my daily life. I get up in the morning and ride to a friend's house, to Alameda, to Berkeley, to work, to climb, to feel the wind in my hair. After a full day of working with bicycles and bicyclists, I still can't wait to get my own bike up on the repair stand and spend just a little more time with it. My favorite bicycle is a huge Xtracycle cargo bike made out of a Giant Seek 2. It hauls about 200 pounds of people or produce.

Mike - Fruitvale Manager
There are millions of people in the world who happily, willingly and knowingly choose human powered vehicles over the gas powered variety for transportation. I ride because being on a bike makes me feel good. Bikes: Zee Nugget (a gold colored french road bike from the 70's), El Gato Grande (a chrome Ross Mt. Hood from the 80's), Micah's ride (an I-Bert equipped single speed steel Specialized Hardrock), 1985 Schwinn Voyageur.

Ember - Designer
I design and maintain the website & in store materials. I love that I have the opportunity to work with such a fantastic group of people that do so much good for our local community. Per Gene's recommendation, I got a cool white bike with butterflies!

Geoff - Programmer
I could walk before I could swim. And I could swim before I could ride. But I could ride before I could do anything else important in life. I rode StingRays through the avocado groves. To school on a custom 9-speed my dad built for me. On to mountain bikes up Mount Tam. And a Peugeot to work. People would ask me "how could you ride 12 miles home after a hard day of work?" and I'd tell them "because I arrive home energized." Now they ask "where did you get that sick bike?" and I tell them "it's not sick, it's Seek. AB, of course."
